It's kinda crazy...but can you believe that I've NEVER made rice krispy treats before?!? Out of all the stuff I've baked, rice krispy treats just never made the list for some reason. I decided that had to change plus I figured it was something that should be pretty easy for Benjamin and I to do together so off to Pinterest I went to look for a recipe. And I stumbled across a fruity pebbles version instead :)
He was very eager to help and I don't even think he knew what rice krispy's or fruity pebbles were but when I asked him to pull up a chair he didn't hesitate for a second. I love that he's so interested in what's going on in the kitchen. I hope it lasts!
He was extremely focused on pushing the microwave buttons and counting down the seconds
BUSTED
So much prettier than rice krispy's :) Fun and Colorful!
BUSTED again!!!
I hope he continues to show interest in baking and cooking - It's so much fun to have a little helper :)
Benjamin had fun helping put it all together but sadly he wasn't interested in eating the end result! Now I have a pan full of fruity pebble treats staring me down. I think I need to take it into work. Outta sight outta mind - right? Otherwise I might eat the whole dang thing myself and that my friends is not a good idea.

Fruit and Veggie Wash
For those on Pinterest you might have already seen this...but maybe just haven't tried it yourself. And I will say that you totally should!
I've seen a lot of the water/vinegar wash pins for fruits and veggies. This is my second go at it. Last time I did it in the sink with apples but this time I didn't have a ton of fruit so I just used a big bowl. I did 1 cup Vinegar and 4 cups of water and let the strawberries and grapes soak for about 15-20 min.
Here's a before picture of the fruit
During their bath
And after
Pretty crazy to see how dirty that water was :( But those berries sure are pretty now :)
I've heard doing the vinegar wash is supposed to help the life of berries. Sometimes it seems like I only have a batch of strawberries in the fridge for a couple of days before they start to get furry so I'm hoping this helps keep them fresh a little longer.

2013 Snow!
It wasn't much but we got a little bit a snow about a week ago. I was hoping Benjamin would be super excited about it but he really couldn't care less. It took about 20 min. to get him bundled up because he was NOT cooperating. You can tell in the pictures that he doesn't really look amused.
But David sure did have fun :)
Please Mom...Just let me inside!
Surprisingly Benjamin wore this same hat last year in the snow but that's the only thing he still fits in. This kid is growing like a weed! David and I think he's going through some sort of growth spurt right now because he's sleeping in till 9:30 on the weekends and eating more than us sometimes. I'm pretty sure he ate an entire bag of steamed broccoli, carrots and peppers the other night. We weren't complaining b/c it was veggies but geesh! I kept waiting for him to stop - it seemed never ending.
I'm starting to worry I'll have to take up a second job just to keep up with the groceries!
