Fifth 2010 Christmas Celebration

This year my Dad and Kim drove in to town to visit. They were troopers and drove on Christmas day and got in around 8pm Saturday night. Everyone had such a long day so we decided to wait until Sunday to celebrate.

First 2010 Christmas Celebration

Tonight was the first out of five Christmas get togethers of the year that we'll be a part of. Davids Brother Brian and his wife Emma were nice enough to host it tonight. We had Mexican for dinner (which I absolutely LOVED) and tons of presents and good times.

I must say I think we're a good looking family :)

14 Weeks

I know it's been a while since I've posted but it's been a crazy 3 months! It has definitely taken some time to adjust to parenthood. But I never dreamed I'd love it as much as I do! I couldn't ask for a better baby. Last night we heard him laugh for the very first time and it almost brought tears to my eyes.

Tree Farm

We've kind of turned the Tree Farm in Hermann MO a Carter tradition. We've gone the first weekend after Thanksgiving for about the last 5 years now.
This year was special because we were able to share it with our little guy :) It was pretty cold so we had to keep him bundled up but we managed to slip a few pictures in.

He's here!!!

Benjamin Michael decided to surprise us all and come 3 weeks early! I went into labor on labor day. We arrived at the hospital at 1:30am and he was born at 8:13am, he weighed 6lbs 10oz and 19 1/4 inches long. Everything seemed to go by extremely fast and I still have a hard time believing he's actually here :)

Diaper Cupcakes

I stumbled across this idea online a while back. I've seen diaper cakes before but I've never heard of diaper cupcakes. I thought they were so stinkin cute and figured I could do that. I was able to make them for my friend at work who's also pregnant. I thought it turned out pretty darn good. I'm so mad that I forgot to take a picture after I decorated the box. I tied some ribbon around it and made a fancy gift tag with my fabulous cricut machine. I also made a label for the "special ingredients" and listed out how many diapers, onesies, washcloths and socks were used.

I feel so loved

I just had another shower yesterday :) It was a ton of fun. It was a mix of my family, David's family, and friends. David and I are so fortunate to be surrounded by such a great group of people. Benjamin is definitely going to be one stylish little man. My sister in laws put the shower together and I must say I was extremely impressed. They really did a great job!

Surprise Diaper Shower

My Grandma and Mom took it upon themselves to be a little sneaky and surprise me with a diaper themed shower a few weeks ago. We ate some really good food, played some games and got a ton of diapers. I'm a little freaked out to find out that newborns typically go through about 8-10 diapers a day! So I guess it's nice to have a little stockpile of diapers ready to go for when Benjamin finally gets here :)

3rd Annual Carter Lake Trip

We just got back from our yearly trip to Lake of the Ozarks. It was SUPER hot pretty much the entire time and the water was a little on the warm side but it was still fun.
David and I started off by ourselves at the Lodge of the Four Seasons Wed-Fri. I had the most amazing massage at the spa (Thanks David!) and then we met everyone else at the house on the lake for the remainder of the trip.

Our last night :( It was so humid the lens kept fogging up. It took about 10 shots before we could finally get a descent one.

7 Months

Benjamin has grown a ton the last couple of months-I've got the belly to prove it!

Martha Who???

She doesn't have anything on my mini pies :) I found a mini pie mold at Williams Sonoma and I HAD to have it. This was my first attempt at it, so it's kind of sketchy but I think practice makes perfect so I know they'll only improve! I'm thinking about mini apple pies next. I couldn't help myself and I ate a few bites already and it was DELISH!

Carters 1st 4th of July

I know this is a little late, but I thought I'd share our 4th of July pic :) It's just not fourth of July for me unless there's a little sparkler action!

Cards Game

The weather was perfect last night! I was a little worried about being 7 months pregnant watching a baseball game outside in July, but it was great! The strawberry shake with whip cream helped cool me down :) Nothing like paying $6 for some ice cream-oh well, it was totally worth it.

Visit Back To Hermann MO

David and I have a very special place in our hearts for Hermann MO, it hasn't quite been a year yet since we were married in Hermann but it feels like it :)
David's older brother got married this weekend in Hermann as well, Brian and Emma chose Stone Hill Winery for their wedding and it was sooo pretty! We got some really great pictures yesterday.

5 Months

I can't believe how fast time is flying by!

It's a....

BOY!!!!
David and I decided to find out what we were having in a "non-traditional" way.
We had the ultrasound tech write down if it was a boy or a girl on a piece of paper and we took it straight to the bakery down the street. If it was a boy the bakery was supposed to make a cake with a layer of blue icing inside, and pink for a girl.
The very next day I picked up the cake and David and I cut into it with family and friends and we all found out together. I'm SO happy that we have pictures that captured the moment!

I don't mean to brag...

But c'mon, these cupcake pops are so freaking adorable! I went to a baby shower this weekend (the same one I made the invitations for) and made the pops for the favors. It's a little time consuming but in my opinion totally worth it.

18 Weeks

It's definitely starting to poke out now. Baby Carter is making his/her presence known :) Hopefully I'll start feeling the little bug soon. Sometimes I think I feel the baby moving, but I'm not positive-hopefully soon I'll be able to tell for sure.

New Town Wedding

I was pretty excited for David's cousin's wedding last weekend, New Town is such a neat place so I knew it was going to be a very pretty wedding. The weather didn't cooperate that morning/afternoon, but by the time the ceremony ended the rain had stopped so I'm sure they were able to get in some great pictures.
It was extremely windy, so my hair was lookin a mess, but David looked like such a stud!

17 Weeks

Who says you can't be stylish while pregnant? :)
We get to find out what we're having in less than 3 weeks! I can't freaking wait!!!! I don't really have a feeling either way, I've heard some Moms say they just "know" what they're having, like they get some sort of feeling within telling them it's a boy or girl. But I haven't experienced that, it's a huge mystery to me so now I'm just counting the days til I finally get to find out if there's a pee pee or a hoo hoo growing inside me :)

Maddie's got crabs

We brought Maddie home 6 years ago. Her only belongings were a rainbow collar, and her beloved stuffed crab. That crab has stayed with her throughout the years and has seen his far share of beatings. But we just can't bring ourselves to get rid of the poor guy. And just when we think Maddie has had enough of the crab because she hasn't picked him up for a good chew in weeks or sometimes months, she randomly plans a sneak attack and pounces out of now where on the little guy.
Anyway, David was out shopping on his lunch today and found a brand spankin' new Mr. Crab. We couldn't believe it! Of course he had to buy one.
I'm hoping the new Crab can at least last a few weeks before he's just as mangled up as the original Mr. Crab.

I had so much fun making these baby shower invitations, yes...it did take a while to make all 36 of them, but I think they turned out super cute! I covered up addresses and phone numbers, but you get the gist of it.
